New page

In the year 747 ASK, four adventurers - Divide, a Vythsthyr (warforged) fighter given free will by a powerful psion, Dex, a Tiefling rogue and refugee from the Empire of Prigdenia, Skruphí, a shifter moonchild (druid) from the Lupuswood (Devilwood), and Tulen, a Kalashtar psion - were gathered in Xyn's mountains for a summit of the elders. There, three dragon eggs - said to come from the demigods Ardis, Xarnath, and Vorelisk - were taken to three potential children, one of whom was prophesied to ascend to the heavenly plane of Celestia and become a god.

The party was given the egg of the radiant dragon to take to a child of the House Dorrim in the grand city of Vorelisk (later known as the rusted city). Along the way, in a cave full of mindflayers, Dex recovered a small amulet in the shape of a small black pyramid. The amulet brought unnatural strength and skill to Dex, though it filled his dreams with terrible visions. In the mountains, the party rescued a man by the name of Walter Bridges from almost certain death at the hands of a red dragon.

The party returned with Bridges in hand to the city of Uller, whereupon which they found that Walter had stolen the egg from them. While searching for Walter and the return of the egg, the party learned of a fanatical group worshiping Cybil - god of nature - called the "Natural Sons" were actively committing a genocide against the shifters of the Lupuswood, claiming their lycan blood was impure.

Upon investigating the church, the party learned that its leadership had been infiltrated by devils from Infandus. The party vanquished the devil Father Maxwell at the temple in Uller, then Skruphí was told by a fellow moonchild that with legendary artifacts - some elemental druid artifacts - could be used to seek vengeance upon the Natural Sons. Dex was introduced to the Garroters, an extraordinary league of assassins, whereupon he joined them by killing a famous fighter from the grey pit.

Through great cunning and determination, Tulen was able to determine the location of Walter Bridges. The party stormed his casino and recovered the egg, barely escaping death. They teleported to the ashlands (as they missed their mark when attempting to go to Vorelisk), where they were set upon by strange mantis-like people wielding strong psionic power. After sufficiently proving their might against the Thri-kreen, and subsequently making a deal to take them to Vorelisk, Dex fell into a deep trance caused by the pyramid amulet. There he was told that he and his companions must go to Prigdenia and use the amulet to free the fiery greatsword Bane. Through the power of Tulen's magic, he came to and told his colleagues of the visions.

The party finally arrived at Vorelisk, where they delivered the egg to the honorable Merric Dorrim. The party waited for over a month, but the egg never hatched. Another month they heard that the yellow egg in Ardis had hatched to a child named Manzarek. Having finished their holy task, they set north to take a ship to Prigdenia to find the sword. On their way, their ship was attacked by powerful merfolk druid and krakens. Divide was turned to wood by this druid, and the party was taken below the sea to sit in her judgment.

New page

Shard is a dangerous narcotic often consumed by spellcasters for its potential to enhance arcane prowess. Shard offers short-term rewards, however, the long-term damage can be disastrous.

It can be consumed via “snorting” (ingestion of powdered Shard via the nasal cavity), smoking, or eating. Intravenous use is considered lethal, as its peculiar arcane components cause Shard to recrystallize while still in the bloodstream.

Likewise, Shard that is consumed orally is not fully broken down in the digestion process in most humanoids (except in Dwarves and Orcs). This has led to a horrid practice among addicts and their predators known as “salvaging”. While Salvage may offer some reduced properties of Shard, it is rife with potential for illness for obvious reasons. A common insult for “salvagers” is “chambermouth” or the less couth “shitbreath”.

Prolonged use of Shard can have serious consequences, such as addiction, fatigue, night terrors, and crystallization of the skin (which left unchecked can lead to loss of limbs). Shard must be consumed in doses of at least 1 gram in order for the effect to take hold. Salvage requires 4 grams (for half the strength and duration per 1 gram of Shard).

Effects of Shard

| Dose | Duration | Activation | Base Wis. Save | Ability Bonus | Base Con. Save |
|-----------------|------------|--------------|------------------|-----------------|------------------|
| 1 gram, smoked | 1 hour | 10 minutes | DC 15 | +2 INT, +2 CHA | DC 15 |
|-----------------|------------|--------------|------------------|-----------------|------------------|
| 1 gram, snorted | 10 minutes | Instant | DC 20 | +2 INT, +2 CHA | DC 12 |
|-----------------|------------|--------------|------------------|-----------------|------------------|
| 1 gram, eaten | 4 hours | 1 hour | DC 12 | +1 INT, +1 CHA | DC 10 |
|-----------------|------------|--------------|------------------|-----------------|------------------|

Upon usage of Shard, a creature must make a Wisdom saving throw to fight off the desire to do it again.

When a Wisdom saving throw is failed, the user must take another dose within an hour after the duration of the effects have concluded. If the user takes another dose, they do so with +1 added to both DCs. If they refuse to take more, they incur a level of exhaustion. If a creature should fail two or more Wisdom saving throws for Shard in a 48 hour time span, they are considered addicted to Shard.

When the effects of Shard have subsided, the user must make a Constitution saving throw. If a Constitution saving throw is failed, the user takes a permanent -1 to Constitution. This effect can stack.

If the user is addicted to Shard, they may stave off a level of exhaustion by instead allowing one of their limbs to crystallize (specifically, this can be done once per arm and once per leg). A user who dies of levels of exhaustion gained through Shard usage has a 25% chance of turning into Shard themselves.

If a creature should attempt to consume more than the prescribed dose in the given duration time (e.g., snorting 2 grams in under 10 minutes, smoking 2 grams in an hour, or eating 2 grams in 4 hours), the effects can stack only once. Any attempt to do more than this requires the user to make a Constitution saving throw, DC 20, or they are immediately downed and must begin making death saving throws.

Intravenous Shard consumption is treated as a poison with a Constitution saving throw (DC 25).

The Yondaran calendar is a simple one. There are thirteen months, each month consists of 4 weeks, each week consists of 7 days. Every day consists of 24 hours, every hour has 60 minutes, every minute has 60 seconds, and time is measured the same, independent of location (i.e., no time zones). In Yondar, the time is kept in hours, much like standard military time (for example, 1:00 P.M. in Yondar would be "the thirteenth hour").

The Yondaran calendar was first developed and implemented by the Loremasters of Ezra, who later repurposed their existing calendar system as a tribute to King Aldus I Vermitharr's reign as king of Yondar. The Loremasters marked the submission of Ardis as the true start of King Aldus's reign (despite having been crowned in the Mire ten years prior) and thusly proclaimed that year (and each year thereafter) the first "Year of the Serpent Kingdom (YSK)." The years that preceded have been likewise labeled "Ante Serpent Kingdom (ASK)." For example, when King Aldus I Vermitharr arrived home to begin construction of Mirehold on Festivas day in 1 YSK, he had not been back home to his beloved swamp since he had been crowned there in 10 ASK.

Due to the wanton destruction of libraries at the hands of Grondar the Terrible, and the measured redaction of the previous year system at the hands of the Loremasters, it is nearly impossible for scholars to agree on how years were originally measured, but it is widely agreed that the structure of months and days has been consistent for at least 900 years.

Yondaran days of the week:
* Solon
* Duon
* Trion
* Tetron
* Penton
* Hexon
* Hepton

Below can be found a list of the months and the known holidays celebrated within each one.

Apothemensis
Yondaran New Year
The 1st day of Apothemensis every year marks the passing of a new year. In Yondar this is typically celebrated as a day of new beginnings; it is not uncommon for families and friends to reunite, weddings to be had, or for various rites of passage to be conducted. At any rate, the realm celebrates and welcomes in the new, while taking a moment to bid farewell to the past.

Day of Justice
The 13th day of Apothemensis is the Day of Justice. This day's roots are steeped deeply in the Exodus of the Children. This holy day is in remembrance of when Fangor, Voxos, and Nelroth were banished to Infandus for their transgressions against the peace. This holiday is celebrated by all the major good and neutral deities (although some devout of Auleos refuse to celebrate this holiday, as they refute that true justice would have been slaying the dark gods, as opposed to giving them a new home). In 73 YSK, when the fabled paladin Mason Raef rescued King Lyrus I Vermitharr from a devil who was holding him captive in a brothel, the king was so grateful, that he wished to rename the holiday the "Day of the Mason." Insisting that such an act was far too conceited, but still unable to refuse a gesture of gratitude from the king, Mason asked if the king might bestow a different honor upon him.

The king, humbled by this legendary paladin, thought deeply and noted that there was no tradition of celebration on this most holy of days. Some say it was then that the king then took notice of the paladin's impeccable physique, while others speculate that the king was likely very hungry after being starved (of food) in a brothel for a week and had food on the mind, but it is well agreed upon that the king then asked Mason what he typically ate for a meal to maintain such form. Mason famously replied, "fresh caught fish over an open fire, mixed greens from the fields of the humble farmer, a meal of oats for my steed and I -- for I would ask none to do what I myself would not, and an apple from the tree of life, to remind myself that life is sweet when kept free from rot." The king then called upon "all true Yondarans" to join him on that Day of Justice for a "feast of fresh fish, greens, oatmeal, and apples" to which the king added his own quip "for our diets must be as balanced as the scales of justice." Today, Yondarans still eat this meal on the Day of Justice, though most have largely forgotten (or never known) the origin of this tradition.

Fangorlûn
Festival of Lust
Every year, from the 8th through the 14th of Fangorlûn, the Festival of Lust is celebrated. Typically, this festival is observed privately by Yondarans west of the Ebonwood, however, east of the Ebonwood, this holiday tradition lives up to its name. In every city, in every tavern, inn, brothel, and in every temple of Fangor, people take on new lovers, for the sake of the act of coupling. Deemed perverse by many of the Eleven Eternal, this holiday was outlawed during the reign of King Rexford I Vermitharr and not made legal once more until the short reign of King Lyrus II Vermitharr (who's death was rumored to have been an assassination by one of the Garroters for his repeals around religious oppression). The Festival of Lust has a much darker and lesser-known repute, for this holiday is also kept by vampires.

Blood Harvest
On the 14th day of Fangorlûn, a sinister holiday takes place known as the Blood Harvest. The Blood Harvest is a dark end to the Festival of Lust. For the truly devout of Fangor and for vampires, the Festival of Lust is a week long search for the perfect host to mate with, and in the case of the former, the devout will slay their mate as a sacrifice to Fangor, or in the case of the latter, the mate will join the ranks of the undead, eager to take part in the festival the following year.

Aurel
Varanis
The 1st day of Aurel is Varanis (the Dawn of the Mother). This special day is an observance of all mothers, a reminder that we all must come from somewhere, and that the miracle of life is bestowed upon us from mother to mother throughout history. This major holiday is commonly celebrated all throughout the realm, but it is considered the highest holy day for the Matriarchs of Aurelia. Children born on this day are said to be born with the mark of the mother, and common superstition holds that those with the mark of the mother are said to be incredibly fertile and kindhearted.

Day of Mercy
The 26th day of Aurel is the Day of Mercy, perhaps the second highest holy day for the Matriarchs of Aurelia. This day marks a celebration of Aurelia's act of mercy - banishing the Children to the material plane instead of executing them, as she was implored to do by all of her peers. It is because of this act of mercy that life as we know it came to be, and therefore, Yondarans everywhere give thanks on this day. It is common, for those who can afford it, to have venison, elk, or goose as part of a feast on this day. Elsewhere, the common folk gather in common halls and plazas everywhere to share what they have with their neighbors.

Voxolûn
Festival of Knights
From the 1st through the 7th day of Voxolûn, citizens of the realm gather from all corners of the world to partake in Xarnath's Festival of Knights. Though this proud tradition has been part of Xarnathian culture for centuries, a keen observer of history would note that the Festival of Knights stem back to the reign of Grondar the Terrible, the Orcish war-chief that conquered most of Yondar in 167 ASK. When he took Xarnath as his seat of power, many of the brave Knights of Xarnath died fighting his warriors, so to compensate (and at the advice of one of the remaining Xarnathian council members), the Festival of Knights was born to help bring in the deadliest, most fearsome warriors to the aid of the Orc warlord. Today, the competition exists so that any challenger who is worthy of the honor can become a Knight of Xarnath. It is important to note that because of its origins, it is still perfectly legal to slay a challenger during the festival. For this reason, only the bravest dare to compete.

Syb/Cyblis
As most of the names of the months take their names after the Eleven Eternal, so too has the name of this month taken its inspiration from the god of nature. Cybil/Sybil are the names given to both the masculine and feminine aspects of the god/goddess of nature. Much as nature changes frequently, so too does this deity, eager to experience all that there is to experience. In honor of this ardent spirit, Yondarans have elected to mark this month as Cyblis on odd years, and Syb on even numbered years.

Day of the Tree
On the 1st day of Cyblis and/or Syb, the Day of the Tree is observed. On this day, rangers, Moonchildren, farmers, Elves, and all worshipers of Cybil/Sybil take part in the Eredfalma, or the wave of seeds, by planting the seeds of trees native to the area. It is said that one will receive a special blessing from Cybil if they can plant the seed of an Opalwood on this day. For farmers, this is when a great deal of the produce intended for the autumn and winter is planted. A variation on this holiday does exist, known as the Day of the River Moon. This variation of the holiday is observed only by the Elves of the Hammersong Mountains; the Selaeruíl will guide the Moonchildren out of the mountains and into the Sapphire River below and begin planting only Opalwood seeds, making the valley along the Sapphire one of the largest sanctuaries of Opalwood trees in all of Arnessia. Additionally on this day, when the Moonchildren have come of age, they are each instructed to fast and embark on a spiritual journey alone along the banks of the Sapphire. They are to stay there for as long as it takes, sometimes weeks, until one of the Opalwood speaks to them. Once it does, they must earn the tree's blessing to cut it down and make an item of their choosing (such as staves, armor, bows, etc.).

Festival of Fire
Once every four years on the 15th of Syb, the Festival of Fire takes place. For farmers and keepers of the wooded areas of the realm, this is typically celebrated by a feast after the completion of stubble burning. Over the years, with the spread of wizardry, this holiday has been adopted by pyromancers who use the day as an excuse to show off their craft. This has resulted in widely attended fire shows, where pyromancers, bards, and all sorts of folk weave flames into wondrous displays. Some evil pyromancers, however, conflate the two meanings of the holiday and burn people for entertainment.

Lû-Nelroth
Merendagros
Merendagros, the Festival of Slaughter, lasts from the 7th through the 13th of Lû-Nelroth, following the rise of the Blood Moon (the given name of the full moon that rises on the eve of the festival). This holiday lives up to its name; while the good-aligned citizens of the realm use this as an excuse to merely do an excess of grilling and smoking meats, sadists, murderers, and the heavily religious Orcs west of the Ebonwood (though this practice has phased out some since the construction of the Warrior Road in 256 YSK) honor Nelroth, the god of slaughter by culling the herd. Put plainly, they murder in as great of numbers as they can muster, some people acting in groups, others caring out their own sinister plots. To help quell this horrible practice, the paladins of Apotheos, as well as many of the Kulrak of Ursus band together in record numbers and patrol the towns. Still, every year, the God of Slaughter receives sacrifices from His votaries.

Equimensis
Celebration of the Sun
From the 9th through the 15th of Equimensis the Celebration of the Sun takes place. One of the most joyous times of the year, all of Yondar gives thanks for the sun and for all the things to which it gives life. Most celebrate this by taking in nature and leaving the cares of the world behind for some time. A merchant is considered unscrupulous and often made a mockery of by bards if they don't provide a paid week of leave for their employees to enjoy the Celebration of the Sun with their loved ones. This holiday's origins are unknown, but its observance predates all written history preserved. It is widely believed that this is another celebration attributed to Aurelia, though the Matriarchs of Aurelia have never taken credit for the origins of this holy week.

Ezraë
The Chronicling
On the 12th of Ezraë, the Loremasters set out into the farthest reaches of civilization to honor the Eloquent by recording the stories of the people. They go to town halls, they sit in public areas, and in some cities, they even are given high places of honor where people wait in a queue for days on end to make sure their deeds are recorded in history. The Chronicling was not always so widely celebrated throughout the lands, but after so much of history was lost to the burning of the libraries at the hands of Grondar, the Terrible, all of Yondar began to see that this holiday was of extreme importance.

Alrazanna
Day of Serenity
Every year on the 20th day of Alrazanna, those that dare to divine give thanks for the wisdom of the Sage, and the peace that it brings. Old feuds are put to an end, business negotiations oft come to a close, and many take time to find solitude and reflect upon their lives. For the devout of Zanna, this is when a new Pandit will begin their year of meditation, relieving another Pandit from their year of meditation. This is a ritual kept by the Pandits of Zanna for over a thousand years.

Auleon
Day of Obstinance
The 19th of Auleon is sometimes more commonly known as "Challenge Day". Auleos, the obstinate, ever living up to his reputation as the God of War demands that real warriors inflict their will upon the world. Unlike the Day of Serenity, Challenge Day is frequently where old grudges and blood feuds only further darken, and fights break out through all ranks of society. In Uller, the Grey Pit is filled with all the citizens of the city, and the night before, people are rounded up to be forced to duel those who would challenge them. More than once, this has resulted in drastic economic shifts, volatile political scenarios, and in many cases, unnecessary cruelty and gore.

Famously, on the Day of Obstinance in the year 48 YSK, King Aldus II Vermitharr was challenged by his jealous uncle Jarus I and slain in the throne room of Castle Mirehold. A year later, his reign was challenged by his nephew Lyrus I - whom the realm had thought dead for years. After Lyrus I took the throne, his first decree was that - for the stability of the realm - it was henceforth illegal to challenge the king.

Day of the Serpent
On the 27th day of Auleon, the Kingdom of Yondar celebrates the Day of the Serpent, which marked the end of the Wars of Unification, where King Aldus I Vermitharr unified the lands between the Marrow Desert and the Ebonwood into the Kingdom of Yondar. On this day in 1 YSK, King Aldus and his Grand Scion Manzarek met with the 14 families of Ardis and brought the city-state into his new kingdom. Every year, Yondarans celebrate their kingdom with food, drink, dancing, and dazzling displays of magic and fireworks.

It should be noted, however, that east of the Ebonwood in Gron's Pass there isn't much celebration of the Day of the Serpent. There is a formal celebration as a gesture of good faith to their sovereign, however, the War Chieftains of Gron's Pass decreed that every 6th of Lû-Nelroth shall be celebrated as the "Day of Iron".

It was on this day in 253 YSK that Nysaeruíl Aliah Tharsae, the legendary wizard Kaenith Silverharp, St. Rofik Dorrim - Helrak and mightiest cleric of Ursus, and the soon-to-be king Sir J'aramé Iron, the fearsome pink knight of Xarnath met with a tribunal of War Chieftains in Gron's Pass. These four brokered the deal that brought Gron's Pass into the Serpent Kingdom and secured the construction of the Warrior Road.

The celebration of the Day of Iron is said to be one of the liveliest celebrations in the whole world of Arnessia.

Menursus
Day of Forging
The loudest day of the year, the 11th of Menursus celebrates the most blessed act of smithing. One of the most beloved holidays in the Halls of Ebrek, the sweet singing of steel can be heard ringing off of anvils all throughout Yondar. It is common practice for blacksmithing guilds to create some annual work of smithing for the good of their respective communities. Devout of Ursus frequently forge hammers and other smithing tools to be donated to the temple on this day, which are also to be used in the act of building for the communities.

The day of forging is beloved by those who follow the god of strength, for it acknowledges the most beautiful precept of strength: while iron is hard and brittle, carbon is versatile and fluid, and together they forge steel, more versatile and durable than either of its parts.

Day of Strength
Every 28th of Menursus the smell of sweat seemingly can't be escaped. Ursus the mighty, god of strength is said to bestow a blessing on the devotee of his who shows the most tremendous strength. All across the realm, people try the noblest - and oft the most dangerous - tasks their imaginations can muster. Whether it's carrying boulders up hills, attempting to lift a sleeping dragon, attempting to wrestle a troll, or hoisting an anchor back from the seas and onto its ship, many make spectacles of themselves in an attempt to impress their god. As such, mortality rates are quite high on this day, however, the clerics of Ursus go out in droves to be ready to heal those that would attempt to honor their god.

Xynestus
Dragonmas
For the Dragonpriests of the Temple of Xyn, every 5th of Xynestus marks the passing of Dragonmas: a day where people give thanks to Xyn, the Dragon god for breathing the universe into existence. Typically, this is celebrated with a feast of mutton or roasted lamb, and many children expect to receive "gift eggs" from their parents.

Though the holiday seems rather tame and nonsensical for most people, a few scholars have noted peculiar behavior in wild dragons during this time. Invariably, dragons from all around the world (some believed to even have come from across the ocean) fly to the mountains of Xyn during this time. Unfortunately, no scholar has been able to observe these dragons closely enough to discern what it is they are gathering for and live to tell the tale.

Festivas
The 25th of Xynestus marks the glorious day of Festivas. This holiday traces its origins back to the hero of ancient time, the good king Yon. It is said that after Yon forged the crown of nine swords, there was peace in the land. His first act as the winter hit, the legends say, was to empty out the coffers of his war effort and ensure that all good people of the realm had homes and food -- beginning with the largest feast that the realm has ever seen. There is no accurate accounting in history, however, it is speculated that as many as one million early Yondarans were in attendance at the coronation feast of King Yon.

After this feast, the realm truly prospered (if the legends can be believed). Where his advisors wished him to build a stronghold, he instead swore a vow of poverty, stating that no humble ruler could do so from a cushioned seat. Instead of a military, the good King Yon built farms, roads, schools, and libraries. Yet none dare challenged the rule of this man, as the realm knew a balance it had never seen before. After Yon's Ascension, the people of Yondar marked the 25th of Xynestus as Festivas in honor of Yon, and to this day people gather and feast and share tidings of good will.

Thieves' Gambit
Since the year 10 ASK, the 15th through the 21st of Yond, the shining beacon of the south that is Londor is packed from top to bottom. The four districts of Londor each year put forth their team of champions, each in hope of bringing glory back to their district by way of winning the Thieves' Gambit. The Gambit is a series of deadly traps and near-impossible challenges designed by the ingénieurs appointed by the heads of each district. The challenges are broken into four layers, each designed by a different district. Should a team survive, they would gain access to the Saaneth's Promise, a mythical vault that was said to have existed here long before the city was built.

Nobody has ever made it through to the vault.

The event itself is hosted in a massive coliseum with a gigantic crystal ball floating overhead to give the commonfolk a close-up view of the excitement.

Londoras
After the Gambit comes to an end, beginning on the 22nd of Yond there is a tremendous week-long celebration in Londor to welcome the new year. Depending on which district one is in, this celebration could look vastly different. While the Green District is known for its lavish feasts that are sure to be full of aristocrats, the Blue District is in an uproar of drink, song, and merriment. The Purple District puts on such dazzling firework displays that the night sky over the desert seems a bore next to them, and the Red District engages in such debauchery that it is best left avoided for those without low morals. Still, the city comes together on the night of the 28th to welcome in the new year and the four colored beacons of fire that surround Londor never shine brighter.

New page

Introduction
It is the year 998 YSK. The kingdom of Yondar has known nearly 700 years of peace. Elsewhere in Guulrath, the Wayfarer Gnome Expedition Company has established several colonies - and even three full-sized cities in the past 300 years. While this has resulted in great economic boons for Yondar, there are those who detest the colonization tactics said to be employed by the WGEC, and there are those who feel that their stranglehold on international trade has tipped the power in the realm from the crown to the merchants.

King J'aramé IV Vermitharr has spent much of his thirty-year reign taking the gold levied from the Wayfarer Gnome and using it to improve the infrastructure of the realm and combats poverty by being a constant nuisance to the Senatorium of Ardis (the reforms of 505 YSK under King J'aramé II officially limiting the power of the crown), as many of its members tout that the king is attempting to threaten the Senatorium's with his excessive edicts that benefit the needy.

Displaced goblins from Guulrath have taken the Rusted City and created a thriving city there, along with a new mint for the kingdom. In the Ashlands, Prigdenia has been seized by the crown and transformed into a massive prison citadel for all of its enemies. Established in 779 YSK, the Prigdenian Complex has housed some of the world's most dangerous criminals for two centuries.

The Grand Scion Matilda Colfox has withdrawn from her place in court for the past five years, instead focusing on researching the planar mysteries. The Arcanus Conservatory, under her leadership, has created a new campus in Gron's Pass, as well as the purple district of Londor. Also, the Conservatory Restoration Initiative - enacted in 445 YSK - has led to the construction of New Darlok, which has been growing for the past 120 years.

Session I
On the 27th of Auleon in 998 YSK, Commissioner Harrison Garfield of the Wayfarer Gnome Expedition Company was hosting a dinner event on the day of the serpent. At his table that evening were friends, enemies, and prospective talent for an upcoming expedition.

The guest list:

* Baresh, a bard of some renown who will entertain the other guests with his dancing prowess - while acting as a spy for the crown. Though he poses as a human, he is in fact a changeling.
* Torrhen Fields, a human fighter raised by the halflings of Stigg's Farm that has completed multiple missions for the Wayfarer Gnome Expedition Company.
* Carson Barrow, the butler. (human)

The commissioner had assembled these parties because years ago he had obtained the Key of Zrajbon on an expedition in the Razorleaf Jungle (the same expedition that took the life of Valdin Dorrim). He told the dinner party that he believed that hidden in Zrajbon were untold riches and magical artifacts ripe for the taking. He intended to appoint Torrhen, Tilion, Aldor, and Eirnes to take the key to Zrajbon and bring back whatever spoils they find. Aldor declined, indicating to the party that he was going to return to the colony of people afflicted with the grey plague just outside of Lake Straassus. In lieu of Aldor, Baresh was named as the fourth member of this party.

Just prior to the first course, Baresh did a very impressive dance to his drums as a hint of the show to come.

At dinner, the following conversation points came up:

* Harrison mentioned that he had high hopes the four would take up his deal to go to Zrajbon. He guaranteed a payment of 5,000 gold pieces to be split among the party, in addition to further negotiation of magic items and artifacts recovered from Zrajbon. He was prepared to send them with two wagons, four draft horses, and a month's rations.
* Prince Zarus made several remarks about seizing Cragnox for the crown, presumably by force.
* Frongod passively warned Zarus that this endeavor would cost him greatly, however, he eventually offered up that he had the means to create the 100 warships he desired, though he demanded the WGEC make lumber from some forest to ensure they have supplies for normal commerce.
* Morris Langdon was very enthusiastic to declare he'd make the necessary armaments for a conscripted army. When he pressed Prince Zarus about funds for this venture, Zarus reassured him that somehow "the coffers will provide".
* Sariah Amaith clearly displayed affection for Thomas Garfield, through flirtatious looks and wordplay.
* Some of the party noticed an amorous exchange between Agnes Garfield, Loremaster Heddal, and Lara Fawn, suggesting that they may all be romantically involved.
* Solomon Mardris was the lone socialite who openly spoke out against the move against Cragnox. He hinted that starting a war won't obfuscate his malfeasance.
* Loremaster Heddal declared he was a great admirer of the work done by Eirnes and Aldor at the Straassus colony.
* Randall Fell stayed noticeably quiet all evening.
* Captain Reiner was drunk before the first course is even served.

Unbeknownst to Baresh, Solomon was a part of the same espionage efforts. At some point in the dinner, he stealthily handed Baresh a scroll with the evidence of Harrison's malfeasance. Within the scroll was a note from Solomon indicating that Baresh should attempt to accompany the search party to Zrajbon - that this was part of a larger, and darker scheme.

As dinner came to an end, the dinner table became enshrouded in a spell of darkness. Screams and footsteps were heard, doors slammed, and when Baresh dismissed the darkness with his bardic magic, the guests were stunned to find Harrison Garfield dead - his throat opened and bleeding out onto the table. Noticeably Randall Fell and Solomon Mardris were missing from the table.

Captain Reiner wanted to escort Prince Zarus back to Wayfarton Castle. Prince Zarus agreed and insisted that Aldor and the rest of Garfield's family join him there. In an act of emergency, Reiner appointed Frongod an emergency deputy and in charge of keeping the other suspects in the house until he returned to solve the murder.

Frongod demanded that the expedition party should search the house, that it was unlikely the murderer had time to flee. As the Duke and his attaché fled the Garfield manor, the doors to the exit were all magically sealed, prohibiting escape.

Before moving on from the dining room, the party wanted to check the corpse of Harrison to ensure that the key was still there. It took much convincing on Frongod's behalf to allow them to touch the commissioner's body, but he eventually yielded to reason. On his person the party found the key of Zrajbon, another ornate key that appeared to match the pattern on the locked door in the room, and a strange triangular coin:

Tilion recognized this as a coin of Xyvylzyx, a cult dedicated to the idea of peace through chaos. Commissioner Garfield was not known to have any affiliation with this group, and Tilion said nothing about it in the presence of the others as he pocketed it.

The party quickly moved to the kitchen, where they found the kitchen staff all murdered. The sous chef had their throat slit with their own butcher knife, the head chef had his head caved in with the meat tenderizer, and the pastry chef had been shoved into the oven. The party recovered the chef's recipe book - and pocketed it, as the commissioner had boasted at dinner that the chef was world renown. Tilion also discovered a small pouch of shard on the head chef's body.

The pantry yielded no sign of the missing guests and presumed murderers, though the party found the kitchen staff's gambling holdings.

In the ballroom, the party came across a beholderkin summoned by Randall and determined to stop the party from pursuing him. Though the party was not fully armed and any aberration is deadly, they easily slayed this six-eyed aberration. The party quickly went to the foyer to arm themselves, and then proceeded to the lounge where they found Solomon's corpse. He had nothing on his body of interest, just a pouch containing fifty gold pieces.

As they made their way to the stairwell, they noted that there was a painting of a beholder in the foyer, behind it was a strange note written with a purple ink in a language they didn't understand. In the windowed area of the stairwell were four suits of armor and a book on a pedestal. When Tilion lifted it, the suits of armor came to life and attempted to attack the party.

The party quickly dispatched the armor and collected the book, which was also written in the unintelligible language, however the title had been translated to the common tongue: "Secret Histories of the Aberrations". Before going down the stairs, the party checked the last room on this floor: the library.

Harrison Garfield's library was quite impressive; the party found several scrolls there amidst several rare books that they just happened to collect:

* Son of Londor - First Edition
* Meditations of the Moonchildren
* Iron Legacy: A History of King J'aramé Iron
* My Side of the Hammersongs
* Love & Life in Uller
* Aberrations & Atlases
* The Wars of Ascension: A Complete History
* Gospels of Aurelia - Second Edition

They also encountered a globe that was trapped with a poison dart that impacted Tilion, but within they found a black diamond worth 300 gold pieces. The globe displayed two continents that the party had never heard of upon it.

The party also uncovered a journal belonging to Harrison. It seemed that about a month previous, Harrison had written two last entries, both a sentence each. "I think they've found out." and "He must return". After that, the journal is nonsensical scribblings, all the markings of a mind descended into madness. As the party doubled back to go down the stairs, they noticed a small trail of blood on its red carpet.

In the basement, they found three doors. The first door they went through belonged to the servants. It was tarnished and old compared to the rest of the manor, a stark contrast to how the Garfield family lived. The next room belonged to Thomas Garfield. The party found a jewelry box with fife hundred gold pieces and several valuable gems, but they only took some of the loot and left the rest.

Finally, the last door led them to Harrison's bedchamber. Inside, the party found a secret door hidden behind a large bookcase. Torrhen was easily able to shove it out of the way. Down the hall, the party found Randall waiting in a secret altar with statues of beholders making a triangle. Randall cackled like a madman and said that he had to kill Harrison because chaos demanded it. That Solomon knew too much, and that the chefs were collateral damage. He summoned another beholderkin and attempted to slay the party, but to no avail. Through a courageous fight, Torrhen sliced the head off of the deranged warlock, and they recovered the second key for the ornate door.

The party climbed the ladder in the altar room and found themselves exiting the well just outside the house. They returned to the kitchen and the ornate door, and found a cache of magic items, a golden beholder statue, and residue of some sort of summoning circle burned into the floor.

After ransacking this room, they returned to explain their findings about the murders to Frongod, but Captain Reiner had returned. He said that the Duke wanted the party to report to him at Wayfarton Castle at once.

Session I Loot
The party reached level 6.

In addition to loot previously accounted for.
Session II
We returned to our heroes at the twenty-third hour of the day of the serpent, who made their way through the rain to Wayfarton Castle. There they gave Prince Zarus and his court mage Avros an account of all they had discovered in the Garfield house - the madness in Harrison's journal, Randall being responsible for the murders of the commissioner, Solomon, and the kitchen staff, all the beholder related iconography in the house, and the coin of Xyvylzyx on both Randall and Harrison.

Prince Zarus reassures the party that Captain Reiner and his guards will find out more about this cult of Xyvylzyx, but the most important thing is that the party take the key of Zrajbon and continue Commissioner's expedition. The party noted that despite his words, the matter of the cult is likely nothing that the guard will actually investigate. He produced contracts that Harrison had drawn up for the four of them, and told them they could find two wagons, four horses to pull them, and two drivers for the horses at Haden's stables upon the morrow.

After a night's rest, the party stopped by Merchant's Hill to sell their unwanted items and buy items useful for their journey, as it would take approximately 75 days to reach Zrajbon from Wayfarton. On the morning of the 28th of Auleon, they set forth through the Blackfang Mountains.

On the third day of their travel, they came upon a pair of stone giants who at first appeared hostile. Using the helm of comprehending languages, they learned that a band of hooded humanoids came through their village and killed some of their own, so now they were limiting passage. The party was able to convince the giants to let them pass in exchange for gold.

On the eleventh day of travel, the party sustained a fair amount of damage in a rockslide high in the mountains. After a night of rest and tending to their wounds, the party picked up on the trail of a band of trolls on the twelfth day. On day thirteen, they surprised the trolls on the road and quickly dispatched them. The adventure will resume on the 11th of Menursus 998 YSK at the eighth hour.

Session II Loot
The party reached level 7.

No loot was recovered during this time.

Session III
The 11th of Menursus marked the fourteenth day of travel for our adventurers.

They continued through the mountains until on the morning of the 25th day of travel (the 22nd of Menursus), after bidding farewell to Aldor - who was making his way to Straassus via Cragnox - at the edge of the Feywood they were confronted by three hooded aberrant cultists. The party also noticed that the forest was eerily silent, unlike any wood they had ever been in before.

The cultists were wearing the same symbols on their bodies that the party had come to recognize as Xyvylzyx. The leader of the cultists demanded that the adventurers hand over the Key to Zrajbon. At first, the party was able to attempt to reason with the cultists. The party was invited to their temple in Barton to hear the truth of their beliefs and join their ranks. However, the cultists made it clear that the adventurers were unfit to set foot on the hallowed ground of Zrajbon in their current state. This disagreement naturally led to a combat.

Though the aberrant cultists were powerful with their ability to call upon chaotic planar energy, our heroes quickly dispatched their foes, leaving one of them alive. They left the cultist Gaxyg manacled to a tree, giving the party a day's ride lead on him. They also had him provide a drawing approximating the location of the cultists' temple in Barton. Thus the party continued on their way, the sounds of the forest seemingly returning.

On day 26 of their journey, they entered the Feywood and marveled at its beauty. The trees were tall, ancient, and the green, yellow, orange, red, and brown of the autumn leaves enveloped them all. As they went along the narrowing roads, a light fog set in, putting the adventurers on edge.

On the 28th day of their travel, they noticed that the path was lined with thousands of mushrooms of all different kinds. The fog cleared, and the trees grew brighter, the sounds of the animals became almost musical, and the flowers seemed to follow them wherever they went. All but Torrhen realized that they had stumbled through a Fey Crossing, making their way to Feyadanna, the realm of the fairies.

Along their way, they met a chipmunk that loved the music Baresh played so much that he decided to engage in conversation with Torrhen about the goings on here in Queen Alodia's woods. He warned them that the queen and her Splendid Court (consisting of Queen Alodia, the centaur Thereus, and the satyr Dardelion) were very wary of outsiders, and may execute them just for being here. He said that it was quite likely that Thereus was already tracking them, and that their best bet to reason with them would be through Dardelion. He also told the party that the court had a cache of magic items stored in the moat, should they have use of some extra items.

When they continued their voyage the next day, they saw the centaurs approaching. The party used their best negotiation skills to explain that they had no interest in disturbing their realm, or even being in Feyadanna at all. Thereus was hesitant, but agreed to escort the adventurers back to the court to stand before the queen. The party was quick to successfully hide the cult masks and pendants they had collected from the cultists.

In the night, that same chipmunk returned to speak with Torrhen and said that he was surprised they were able to stay Thereus's blade.

The party was brought before a great host of pixies, centaurs, satyrs, and the three leaders of the Splendid Court. Queen Alodia was hostile towards the party, stating that they could be in league with the cultists, who had murdered a unicorn days past. There was word that this has happened in multiple places around Feyadanna. Though Alodia was hostile, Thereus and Dardelion heard the wisdom of the party, and agreed to send them on their way out of world of fairies, as long as they swore not to return.

The party did inquire after the items in the moat, but the court became very defensive and indicated through tone that the party had information they should not and should stop talking about it immediately. After three days of travel, they found another crossing and when they returned to Arnessia, they were at the northern edge of the Feywood.

They noticed immediately that the terrain looked different, as though the weather had drastically changed, and it was now spring. As they ventured towards Barton, they passed a traveler on the road, who explained to them that it was now the 26th of Aurel 999 YSK. Five months had passed on the material plane with their time in Feyadanna.

They progressed on to Barton. The next session will resume at the bridge of Barton at the 10th hour of the first of Voxolûn.

Session III Loot
The party reached level 8.

No loot was recovered during this time.

In 167 ASK, when the city was sacked by Grondar the Terrible, the Festival of Knights was born, and with it, the Tournament of Knights. Now every year, the knights must defend their positions against challengers seeking glory.

The ten knights of Xarnath:

* The Blue Knight
* The Brown Knight
* The Red Knight
* The White Knight
* The Yellow Knight

There are rumors that there exists a grey knight who does the secret bidding of the knights, however, this claim has never been substantiated.

New page

Established in 266 YSK, a man named Eldon Roole discovered an artifact in the Marrow Desert sometime in 231 YSK. He claimed to have seen a vision when collecting this strange, massive "lantern" as he called it, stating that it came from something, somewhere, or someone called "Movan". He then dedicated his life to researching it from the Purple District of Londor. With no magical blood or arcane training, he began to understand how to infuse items with magic from his understanding of the Movan Lantern.

While he wasn't a wizard or sorcerer, he was an erudite and exceptional note taker. He outlined his method of artifice in what he called the Roolian Method of Artifice. By 266 YSK, enough interested benefactors had seen his wonders and opened the Roolian School of Artifice. One such benefactor was Grand Scion Kaenith Silverharp, who took a portion of his own personal fortune to ensure the school could open in Londor (although those close to him said that he was disappointed it went to the Purple District, himself being from the Blue).

It is said that later in life Eldon Roole claimed to be the son of a passionate tryst between a Londoran woman and the interplanar traveler Londo Roole, though there was never any evidence to substantiate that claim.

New page

King Aldus I Vermitharr (10 ASK - 28 YSK)
Little is known about the early years of Aldus I. What is known that he was born some time in Aurel in the year 50 ASK near the mire. Later in life he never spoke about his family, but he said that by age ten, all of his family and small village had been taken by the mire or the harsh effects from living there. At that point, he set off with his mother's sword and began wandering the fields on his way to the east.

On his way he came to know the cheer and comfort of the many halfling villages hidden throughout the countryside, and earned his living working on their farms, in their ale and cider breweries, and occasionally he served constables. Among the smallfolk, he learned the finer points of commerce, philosophy, language (they taught him the tongues of halflings, elves, dwarves, and orcs), the arts, and history.
At this time, Xarnath was still ruled by orcs, though their power on the rest of the country had been dwindling in the century since the death of Grondar the Terrible.

Much of written history had been lost during that time, but the tradition of storytelling among the halflings kept it alive enough for Aldus to be a well educated man by the time he reached Amblecrown. There he was welcomed by the Lord Cosmo Amblecrown and his court. He was eighteen at the time, and for five years it was there that he learned the finer points of governance and the responsibilities that come from being a head of a community.

When he was twenty-three years of age, he made his way to Xarnath, where he witnessed an otherwise beautiful city torn apart by hatred. The leftovers of Grondar's reign were little better than a group of thugs by the time Aldus reached the city, and the rebel forces in the city seemed to him more intent on sowing chaos and discord rather than solving the problems of misrule. He spent two years living in the slums of Gronton, seeing atrocities firsthand, often getting into melees with various brigands while defending the innocent.

The savagery of that city proved too much for Aldus to call it home, so he packed up his sword and headed north to Ardis. In the winter of 25 ASK, Aldus arrived in Ardis, a city that had thrived for centuries under the rule of the sorcerer-lords, though not without the existence of classism. It was there that Aldus met Manzarek, a ward of the Sorcerer-Lord Corlin Maluthess that had become renown as the first wizard. It had been nearly 300 years since Manzarek had left his post as the Majistrate of Ardis to form the Arcanus Conservatory, yet he always returned home for the winter.

It is said that on Festivas of 25 ASK, Aldus sat down to a feast at House Maluthess with Manzarek, Lord Cosmo, and their friends. Manzarek - who had been alive for over 700 years - took an immediate note of Aldus's character. Of all the schools of magic, Manzarek had paid the least attention to divination, but the presence of this young human caused him to peer into his destiny - and there he saw greatness. This young man would unite the realm into a single peaceful nation.

On the first day of 24 ASK, Aldus and Manzarek took a ship around the coast of Yondar. First, they went east around the northern shore to Gron's Pass. There, life wasn't near as barbaric as the rhetoric of Xarnathian natives would have had him believe. Though punishments for crime were harsh, there was a strong sense of community, and all of the able-bodied people made the education and care of children a priority, along with the care of those who were not able-bodied. The War Chieftains were quite hospitable and some of their second sons and daughters would accompany Aldus and Manzarek as they sailed south to Mongrad. They would stay with these two until they reached Arcanus, where they would study the arcane arts and bring them back to Gron's Pass. After three months in Gron's Pass, they set sail once more.

In Mongrad, the party was well received. They spent a month there learning of the fishing trade and crafting ships, and mingling with the salty people there. They gained extra deckhands for their ship and ventured further south to the port of Londor. Londor was the newest city in the realm, founded in 247 ASK by Jaared the Green - the first Demiurgic Pillar of Arcanus. Though a new city, it had grown rapidly thanks to the advanced magical infrastructure applied there. Aldus and Manzarek marveled at the splendors of this city on the edge of the desert. When word reached the districts that Manzarek himself was in the city, he and Aldus were given a manse in which to stay in the green district. For eight months, they indulged in the wonders of the city - the arts, the mystic district (where Manzarek was very much the celebrity), and listened to the heads of districts discuss their plans of an annual competition that would later become the Thieves' Gambit.

They made their way west from Londor to Darlok, arriving at the modest city-state on the first day of 23 ASK. Darlok was unlike the other cities in the realm as it operated under communists as opposed to any form of monarchy or mercantilism. Aldus marveled at this, and immediately began meeting with adjudicators of law there. Despite some protesting from Manzarek and the party, Aldus spent eight long years here, learning all that he could from the finest legal minds of that age. At long last, Manzarek and Aldus departed for Uller.

Uller was unlike any place in Yondar. Here necromancy was legal, and the Grey Delegation had two liches serving at the time. Uller had a hall of assassins that could be openly hired, blood sport was the most popular form of entertainment in the city, and criminals held high positions of influence. Perhaps most detestable of the conditions of this city was the existence of Rat Hollow. Rat Hollow was the run down slum that the Grey Delegation ignored. Aldus spent three years here trying to bring some relief to the smallfolk of Rat Hollow, but the Grey Delegation ignored the pleas of Aldus.

Once they had all that they could stomach of Uller, Aldus and Manzarek made their way to the Hall of Ebrek. The hospitality of the dwarven lords was second to none. At this time, the predominantly dwarven city was ruled by the seven anvils of the temple of Ursus. Another year passed in the time that Aldus and Manzarek got to know life in the mountains. It was at the end of this time, at the beginning of 11 ASK that the two parted ways for a time. Manzarek returned to the Arcanus Conservatory atop Mt. Sledge, and Aldus returned to Amblecrown. There, he asked Lady Gwendolyn Amblecrown for her hand in marriage. She gladly accepted, and the two wed and returned to the mire to build a new home for themselves.

As a wedding present to the two, Manzarek commissioned the construction of Mirehold and a city around it. He convinced people (with large sums of money) from all around the realm to come live there, promising that one day this city would be the most important in the realm. In addition, Manzarek and Aldus called upon some of their friends across the realm to help form a government: from Mongrad came Gillian Saltwater - captain of five hundred voyages at sea, Gimble Baublegear - considered the most learned legislator of Darlok, Sir Lowell Barton, the Brown - Lord Commander of the Knights of Xarnath, Glorin Dorrim - Copper Anvil of the Temple of Ursus, Jaared of the green district of Londor - a genius of commerce and descendant of Jaared the Green, and Delegate Wakeman from Uller's Grey Delegation. There Manzarek laid out his vision for the realm.

All the cities and lands in the realm would be united under one common monarch: the king Aldus I of the house Vermitharr. The crown would construct roads connecting all the cities, collect taxes from them and provide for all citizens welfare, ensure religious freedom for all people, and keep peace for all. This utopia would not do for Delegate Wakeman, nor for Gimble Baublegear. Darlok would not abandon the will of the people for rule under a monarch, and Uller would not yield to a king. The others however, saw the wisdom in this. Sir Lowell was the first to pledge to King Aldus I Vermitharr, and he stated that the rest of the knights of Xarnath would follow, so long as the king helped them rid the city of their orcish invader overlords. Gillian Saltwater pledged Mongrad to Aldus, so long as he could be named Mayor. Glorin Dorrim gave Aldus his pledge, but could not make a unilateral decision, so he set off for the Hall of Ebrek to put it to the other anvils. Similarly, Jaared said he must present it to the leaders of the other districts.

The guests disbanded, and after three months, Aldus received word from the Hall of Ebrek that the dwarves would join the kingdom. Six months after that, word from Londor came that they too would join the serpent kingdom. This news came on the fourteenth of Apothemensis in the year 10 ASK, the same day that Gwendolyn gave birth to their first child, Prince Rexford. Three months later, on the first of Voxolûn, the knights of Xarnath, the district leaders of Londor, the anvils of the Hall of Ebrek, Mayor Gillian Saltwater, Lord Cosmo Amblecrown, Lord Fredrick Rickman, and Lord Roscoe Quimbar came to the large wooden cabins that House Vermitharr called home while their castle was incomplete. There, his guests swore fealty to King Aldus and House Vermitharr and they placed the platinum crown upon his head.

Aldus knew he had a long road ahead of him. The Hall of Ebrek and Londor were the first cities to officially declare for the new king, and as such, Aldus found it imperative to unite these two cities by road. He knew that this meant taking Uller and Darlok. He commanded an army from both cities. He would accompany Anvil Dorrim to Ebrek where they amassed a host of 10,000 dwarven soldiers. On the 7th of Equimensis in 9 ASK, the host marched south to Uller. Spies of the Grey Delegation knew of the marching host, and bolstered what defenses they could. The battle ensued over the course of five days, the court necromancers of Uller raising their fallen comrades to continue fighting and the council of Arcanus doing their best to shut them down, until finally the army breached the walls of the city. Two of the Grey delegates were willing to surrender, but Delegate Wakeman demanded single combat with Manzarek. Wakeman - a powerful lich - refused to acknowledge the power of the wizard, up until his dying breath as Manzarek disintegrated him from the inside out. Thus, Uller was won.

For the rest of the year, Aldus marshaled more forces - and had long debates with the Grey Delegation about the use of necromancy, ultimately allowing it within the city of Uller but forbidden throughout the rest of the kingdom, except as noted in the Religious Rights of Resurrection Act of 9 ASK, establishing the right of resurrection authorities to be registered through the crown via the Grand Scion. On the third of the new year of 8 ASK, with a host of 4,000 dwarves, 2,000 soldiers from Uller, and 300 necromancers, Aldus and Manzarek made their way to Darlok. Meanwhile, Jaared of Londor brought an army 15,000 strong to surround Darlok from the other side. For six long months, the army sieged Darlok, ultimately starving the city out. On the 25th of Equimensis, Darlok yielded to the serpent king. Gimble Baublegear was offered a place at court to help oversee the justness of laws throughout the realm, becoming the first Baron of Darlok.

For the next two years, Aldus and his army began restoring the health of Darlok and building the southron road from Londor through to the Hall of Ebrek. On the fifth of Fangorlûn in 5 ASK, Aldus took his army east to Xarnath, to finally make good on his promise to liberate Xarnath from orcish rule. This task was easier said than done. Xarnath is positioned between a major fork of the Yon River, and laying siege to it was a hard task for any army. It wasn't until Festivas at the end of 5 ASK that the orcs finally opened the gates to the city. By comparison, the siege was much simpler than what came next for this new king.

Xarnath was torn apart by racial hate between the orcs and the humans. The humans wanted all the orcs executed or exiled, yet there were several communities of orcs and half-orcs living there. For the next five years, Aldus struggled to establish meaningful rule in Xarnath. Ultimately, he allowed the orcs to stay in the realm, however, several of them took sums of gold to return east to Gron's Pass.

Finally, at the beginning of 1 YSK, Xarnath was stable enough that Aldus could prepare to take Ardis. With an army of 30,000, on the first of Alrazanna, Aldus and Manzarek marched north to Ardis. There, for over a month, Aldus and Manzarek sat down with the Sorcerer-Lords of the fourteen families of Ardis. One the 27th of Auleon, they finally relented and joined the Serpent Kingdom.

From there, Aldus returned home to Mirehold to resume the construction of his castle. In 7 YSK, the castle was finally finished, and a major city had sprung up around it. The swamp that the young boy had once left was now the capital city of the kingdom. For the next 21 years, Aldus I reigned with peace and united the rest of the realm with roads (with the exception of the lands east of the Ebonwood). King Aldus and Queen Gwendolyn ended up having two more children, a daughter, Savra in 8 YSK, and Jarus in 12 YSK.

On the eighteenth of Menursus in 28 YSK, King Aldus I Vermitharr died in his sleep, leaving behind a kingdom to his eldest son Rexford.

King Rexford I Vermitharr (28 - 46 YSK)
King Rexford I was born on the 14th of Apothemensis in 10 ASK amid the new construction of Mirehold. Rexford spent the first half of his childhood hardly seeing his father. Queen Gwendolyn saw to it that Rexford would be prepared to fill his father's shoes when the time came. From the time he could walk, he was being taught to read and write in common, elven, dwarven, orc, halfling, giant, gnomish, goblin, and draconic, matters of the faith, history, diplomacy, martial arts, commerce, philosophy, and commerce. The queen made it her job to instill great wisdom into this boy, for as she explained to him, while his father may unite the kingdom, it would be Rexford's job to hold them together.

When Rexford was eighteen, he went on a tour of the kingdom, holding court in his father's name in the cities. He began with Uller, the most querulous city in his father's kingdom. There - against all pleas from the retinue of advisors he brought with him - he entered in the lists at the Grey Pit. Using his favored weapon, the halberd, Rexford completed all thirteen rounds of the pit, something that had never been done before. The city fell in love with him, and the cheers could be heard for miles when he hoisted the serpent banner in victory. The Grey Delegation - who many suspected were looking for the first possible sign of weakness to secede from the crown - were now powerless to move against the crown, as Rexford had won the city's heart.

Next he went to Darlok, where Baron Baublegear had constructed himself a lavish tower in the center of the city, befitting his station. This had drawn the ire of much of the citizens, as their historical practice of communism frowned upon such vulgar displays of wealth. Rexford took an interesting approach to heal these wounds. He made a decree that the barony was not a position granted in perpetuity, but rather a position that would be elected by the people every seven years. The baron would act as a deciding voice in the event of a tie in the city's parliament, and would secure the funds for the city as well as taxes owed to the crown. The baron would be permitted to live in the tower and enjoy all its comforts, yet they would draw no salary, beyond the basic income provided to all citizens of Darlok. Additionally, no person may be elected to the barony more than once in all lifetimes. This move was wildly popular with the people and Rexford won many hearts to the crown that day.

Following Darlok came Londor, which was perhaps the most loyal city to the crown at that time. There Rexford became enamored with the arts district and all that it had to offer. Here he made another decree, that every year the crown would fund a production of the red district's choosing that would tour all the cities in the realm, ending in Mirehold for the crown's pleasure. This became a grand tradition that lasted for centuries after, eventually becoming known as the Rexford Production.

After an extended stay in the wondrous desert city, he made way to Mongrad via the port of Londor. Gillian Saltwater, a long time ally of the crown and the newly appointed Mayor of Mongrad hosted the young Rexford. Saltwater cautioned the prince about the security of the realm without naval power. Rexford took these words to heart, and declared that Mongrad would function as a royal port and produce the crown thirteen warships a year. Taking a smaller ship from Mongrad, Rexford's party went to Stigg's Farm, where they met with the halflings that ran the community. Rexford was in awe at the bounty of these farmlands, and delighted by the simple nature of life here. The people were warm, friendly, knowledgeable of song and history, and content to enjoy quiet lives with their families and neighbors in the country. The young prince asked that in exchange for any form of monetary tax, that instead they reserve a portion of their harvests to be sent to the crown for emergency use throughout the realm.

Rexford bade farewell to the charming farmlands and made his way north to Xarnath. In the years since his father's absence in the city, much of the orcish reform had been undone. Gronton had become a slum, and the orcish population seemed to be systematically prevented from positions of prominence. Rexford again used the power of his royal decrees to attempt to right this wrong.

Bulrath was an exceptionally large and cruel orc. He had been raised among the barbarians and trained in the arts of battle since he was born. It is said before he reached maturity, he was gifted a magical axe from Nelroth, which he earned in combat. This magical axe was called the Knight Cleaver, and in Bulrath's capable hands, it lived up to its name. He slayed nearly half of the Knights of Xarnath before meeting his end at the hands of the good king J'aramé Iron, who slew him at Godspire.

New page

There are nine legendary swords throughout the realm, swords made famous by deed and in songs, magic swords fit for only the best blade wielders in the land. It is said that if one were to be master of all nine, they would become the God of Blades.

Iron Heart
A "hand-and-a-half" sword, the Iron Heart is a legendary blade once wielded by King J'aramé Iron himself. This sword was protected by a sect of solitary monks in the Iron Monastery in the Hammersong Mountains. This sword can even call down a bolt of lightning, if the stories can be believed.

Desert Wind
A deadly sharp scimitar with a red-copper hue, the Desert Wind is said to be located somewhere in the Marrow Desert, once belonging to a Yuan-Ti warlord that lived there. Some histories suggest that this sword was crafted by Ebrek as a gift for that warlord.

Devoted Avenger
A surprisingly light falchion, this sword finds itself in the hands of those sword to avenge someone or are otherwise dedicated to some noble cause. This sword was said to originally belong to Gron, who lost it in a duel to the first red knight of Xarnath.

Diamond Mind
A brilliant and deadly rapier, the Diamond Mind once belonged to Stigg. Some called it his scalpel, as his precision with it was uncanny. This sword prefers to be wielded by the sharpest minds.

Dawn's Edge
This mithral short sword was thought to belong to Darlos, and is destined to belong to those who are truly champions of the innocent.

Dark Dirge
This dagger is believed to be a token of Xarnath herself, destined to do the darkest deeds for the largest rewards. Those who wield this dagger are known for their ruthless, deadly tactics in combat and are no strangers to subterfuge.

Fury
The sword of Prigden, this deadly greatsword is said to be made of steel as black as his heart. This sword has the unique ability to trap the soul of someone inside of it, much like a magic jar.

Dragon Fang
A kukri created as a gift from Uller for Ardis, the dragon fang is razor sharp and has a yellow-gold blade. Though Ardis was never known to use the sword, it is still considered an important artifact among dragonpriests.

Blade of the First King
Yon's longsword, sometimes called vigilance, the blade of the first king has long been coveted by the monarchy of the serpent kingdom, however, it has been missing for over a thousand years.

New page

Sometime around 900 ASK, the Temple of Cybil began changing their rhetoric that all life is sacred, and instead began spouting hatred for Shifters. Shifters were a people that had some form of Lycan ancestry and took on humanoid aspects of those Lycan ancestors. This division of the church took on an image of a silver sun, and their following began calling themselves the "Natural Sons".

Over the course of decades, this rhetoric expanded from words to acts of violence. The church began hunting down shifter villages and driving them out of cities. Even in the Lupuswood, these zealots hunted down the shifters in hiding. They killed every single one they could find, as was the will of the secret hand moving these fanatics: devils. Devils from Infandus had made their way to Arnessia and infiltrated this church to enact their wicked deeds and offer souls to Fangor.

However, these massacres didn't go unpunished. A shifter druid was able to collect the ancient druid stones and destroy all of these houses of evil worship. Massive roots sprouted from the ground, massive waves crashed against temples, fire rained from the sky, and the winds blew temples to dust. The shifters were gone, but so too was this blight on the land.

New page

The Exodus of the Children is the common name given to the banishment of the various offspring of the Eleven Eternal from the heavenly plane of Celestia.

The Exodus of the the Children cannot be rightfully explained without an understanding of the many events that transpired before the Exodus.

From eternal nothingness sprouted the heavenly plane of Celestia, a place of unparalleled beauty where many scholars believe life itself began. Be it noted here that sorcerer-priests of Xyn, the Dragon, however, attest that from nothing came Xyn, and His mighty breath gave birth to Celestia and all the life within. No matter what the specifics of the origins of creation may be, one thing is certain: from Celestia came the Eleven Eternal, and from their various couplings came the Children.

The Eleven Eternal knew all too well that they were the masters of all creation; their whims shaped reality, a power too great to be entrusted into the hands of their children. Thus, the Eleven asked themselves if the practice of their divine magic was to be bestowed upon the Children. The Eleven convened at the First Council, and put the matter to a vote. With six votes against, it was decided that this power would not be bestowed upon their offspring. All of the existing religious texts agree, those that voted in favor of the Children being taught this power were Voxos, Nelroth, Fangor, Sybil, and Ursus. Despite this agreement, Voxos the Conniving had other plans.

From the time he was a young boy, Voxos had bestowed upon Her son, Prigden, the power of creation that had expressly been forbidden. For a time, she had him keep it secret, for Her cunning knows no bounds. She knew that Prigden would one day show off to one of the other children, and eventually share with them the gift, and so he did. One by one, the Children began practicing the powers of creation, touching the divine in ways they had never imagined, weaving into existence creatures the likes of which not even their parents had dreamed.

The power they were given was so immense that they could not stop the magic from flowing through them. Their very thoughts began to take shape, sometimes unbidden, sometimes even whilst they slept. Beings began spawning that had unspeakable features, hideous tentacles, claws, eyes, and undefinable appendages. From their nightmares, the Children had given birth to aberrant horrors. Even Voxos had not foreseen that the Children would create creatures that so wholly offend the very nature of existence, though she still sought to use them to her own ends.

The aberrant horde began destroying Celestia, devouring all in their path. Horror beyond comprehension had come to paradise itself, and the realm was being torn asunder by madness. From the ashes that the horde left behind, Voxos would build the planes anew, with Her as the Prime Eternal, as She always should have been. While She would not directly destroy anything herself, in private counsels, She would encourage the Children - now desperate for guidance - to keep trying to reason with their creations, going so far as to name the aberrations Her "Grandchildren" and "Great Nephews."

In other secret councils, She met with Fangor, the father of Her son, and Nelroth, patron saint of sadists. She told them of Her many machinations, and promised them places of power if they help Her rid the realm of the others. Fangor could deny Her nothing, for His desire for Voxos is as eternal as the Eleven themselves. Nelroth wanted the sport of slaughtering the Eleven, and required little incentive. She told them that she had the sight -- the same gift that Aurelia and other gods used to see into the future, and that she saw that these three would rule all of Celestia to themselves.

This was not to be. Unbeknownst to the wicked three, it is said someone spied upon them. Though scholars have several arguments over who this spy was, recent theories put forth by the Temple of Ezra suggest that it was Olim, the Hidden One. This appears to have been the first introduction of the god of rogues to the rest of the eternals, as she had previously remained hidden. Olim reported this conversation to Aurelia, Zanna, and Apotheos. They in turn convened the Second Council, where all the truth was revealed.

For their transgressions, the wicked three and the children were banished from Celestia. The rest of the Eternals could not agree upon where to send them, until finally the only conclusion that could be reached was to split Celestia in two. In doing so, they created what they called "the wall", but what we know today as the material plane, Arnessia. This became the barrier between Celestia, and its darker half, Infandus. To Infandus went the wicked three, and to Arnessia went the children.

New page

On the 17th day of Aurel in the year 253 YSK, Manzarek the Archmage ascended to the sky and made his way to Celestia awash in purple light, visible to all the realm. Upon his arrival, word spread to all the Eleven Eternal. Xyn was the first to declare for Manzarek. Auleos quickly followed suit. Nelroth, Voxos, and Fangor all rejected his ascension outright. Meanwhile, Voxos's champions infiltrated the minds of the Matriarchs of Aurelia to ignite this war. With the heads of Aurelia's faith denouncing Manzarek, the Justiciars of Apotheos also denounced Manzarek's ascension.

In response to the public denunciation of Manzarek by the Matriarchs of Aurelia at the beginning of the Festival of Knights, a group of red-cloaked mages disintegrated the ancient Temple of Aurelia in Xarnath, causing mass hysteria. It was later discovered that these mages were sent on behalf of Bromwen Shade, then the Immortal Pillar of the Council of Arcanus, as he was involved in a much deeper plot.

The destruction of the temple caused Xevon - the new Grand Scion of the Council of Arcanus - to pass the Wizard Registration Act, declaring that all arcane users of magic must register with the crown or be in violation of Yondaran law. All who did comply were given an arcane waystone, which enabled the council to scry on the wizards from the newly constructed Observatory - a tower full of wizards and sorcerers using crystal balls and other methods of divination to keep tabs on threats to the realm. In protest of the Wizard Registration Act, Velma Shade - daughter of Bromwen Shade and an accomplished spellcaster - bid other mages to join her on the ashes of Darlok in defiance of this law.

Xarnath was only the beginning. After the destruction of the Temple of Aurelia, six sorcerer lords in Upper Ardis were murdered in their sleep, many believed that this was in response. Meanwhile in Uller, the Temple of Auleos exiled the faithful of Aurelia (with the permission of the Grey Delegation). When the news (and refugees) reached Mirehold, thousands took to surrounding the castle demanding justice for this unlawful eviction of people from their homes. Unfortunately, the protest turned into a riot and violence broke out, ending with a Justiciar of Apotheos beheading the person that started the riot.

Due to the dangerous aura in the city, Queen Ashra Vermitharr could not dispatch an army from Mirehold to deal with Uller, and instead called upon Governor Gladbury and the Knights of Xarnath to lead an army to Uller to see to the peace. Led by Sir Hagabash the Brown, an army of 5,000 soldiers began marching towards Uller by way of Mirehold. But Zorin the Unyielding was clever, and assembled his own host to march on Mirehold from Uller. His rationale being that it was time for the Serpent Kingdom to end.

Queen Ashra was the last of House Vermitharr, and as the first queen to ever sit the throne, her rule was viewed as in peril. It did not help that just a few months into her reign, Manzarek - advisor to all the predecessors of the Serpent Kingdom - ascended to Celestia. With the crown interfering in matters of the faith and murdering protesters, Zorin saw these as the last straw to end Uller's sovereignty to the crown. With a host of 4,000 marching from Uller, and 3,000 more barbarians descending from the north, Zorin laid siege to Mirehold.

Sir Hagabash's forces broke the siege of Zorin's forces, at the cost of 3,500 casualties. However, the next night, the barbarians descended upon them, led by their fearsome leader Bulrath the Butcher. With his deadly axe, the Knight Cleaver, he slayed Sir Hagabash, Sir Maxwell the Green, Sir Payton the Orange, and Sir Gregory the Blue of the Knights of Xarnath.

Queen Ashra would not allow this violence to go unanswered. From Ardis, she marched with a host of 10,000 elvish soldiers and Sir Archibald Bell the White to Mirehold. Meanwhile, another force moved in Ardis. Four heroes - Sir J'aramé Iron the Pink Knight of Xarnath, Nysaeruíl Aliah Tharsae, Helrak Rofik Dorrim, and Kaenith Silverharp, the spellcasting prodigious heir of House Maluthess - had been tasked by the Summit of Elders to gather the three dragon rods that make the Staff of Xyn. The Staff of Xyn was said to determine the fate of the Ascension, and that the wicked three were already moving to obtain the rods themselves. These heroes came to Ardis in search of the Rod of the Yellow Dragon.

After discovering the rod in the sunken manse of Sam Silvertongue, a famous member of the Collectors, they made their way to the Rusted City to claim the Rod of the Radiant Dragon. Using strong teleportation magic, Kaenith was able to guide them past the massive rusted doors. There they encountered Margoth, a once-powerful sorcerer and member of the Golden Council of Vorelisk, who had survived the doom of Vorelisk by magically sealing herself away. Obsessed with returning to the land of the living, she eventually turned to dark magic and became a lich.

Margoth had hoarded all the magic items of Vorelisk that she could muster, and among these relics was the radiant rod. After defeating her, the party discovered this rod, and in addition, a strangely ornate Opalwood and copper crown. From there they found the runes responsible for keeping the city sealed and destroyed them. For the first time in nearly a thousand years, the gates of Vorelisk were open. As the party got out of the city, they were greeted by Xevon and Bromwen Shade, who had been ordered by the queen to assist them.

Xevon, one of the most learned wizards in the world, recognized the crown at once as the Vythsthyr Crown, the artifact capable of controlling the Vythsthyr - the ancient warforged of Vorelisk. Xevon placed the crown on his head, and from the ruins of the city 10,000 warforged rose to his command. With this newly acquired army for the crown, the group returned to Thryddmalk. There, calamity ensued.

Taking the greatsword that hung above the grandson of Thrydd's mantle, Bromwen stabbed Xevon in the back, not only slaying him, but trapping his soul within the greatsword. Worse still, in doing so, the fearsome Prigden was released from his prison. Bromwen took the crown from Xevon's corpse and placed it upon Prigden's head. There the Vythsthyr became his, and he infused his vampiric essence into the crown, channeling it through the warforged. Thus, the Bloodforged were born.

Bromwen and Prigden left behind 100 Bloodforged to finish off the adventurers, and marched to Mirehold. The heroes were able to survive the onslaught of the Bloodforged, and immediately teleported to warn the queen. Ashra and Sir Archibald had liberated the city of Bulrath's forces, though Bulrath himself escaped. She sent word to the Hall of Ebrek and Londor to request forces to join against the new threat of the Bloodforged. She asked the party for a larger favor; win the people of Gron's Pass to their cause against the Bloodforged. She said that their current quest was still of the utmost importance, perhaps now more than ever. She said that she had reason to believe from her intelligence operatives that the War Chieftains may know where to find the Rod of the Shadow Dragon.

The party sought out the War Chieftains and told them of the plight of the kingdom. They agreed to help if the queen would include Gron's Pass in the kingdom and construct a road to through the Ebonwood to unite the city with the rest of the country. They relayed this to the queen and the Anvils of Ursus, who accepted the terms and agreed to build the road. They also met with the druids of the Ebonwood to negotiate this road construction; they agreed to allow the road to be constructed underground. Having accomplished their task for the War Chieftains, they gave the party what they were searching for: the Scarlet Sorceress.

Thought long dead, the Lady Fedorova - the Scarlet Sorceress - had been hiding in the Ebonwood since the destruction of Darlok. She explained to the party why she quarreled with her father Manzarek. Manzarek had become aware of the prophecy laid down by the first summit of the elders, and that the Staff of Xyn could spell ruin for the realm; that if it were re-forged it would be used to tear down the wall between Infandus and Celestia. This would mean the destruction of Arnessia itself. He knew that the rods were tied to the souls of their respective dragons, so if he could kill the dragons, he would render the staff useless. For this reason, he slayed Xarnath the shadow dragon. Yrevmolik, the last child of Ardis, stayed in hiding for most of his life, and the radiant dragons were all presumed dead.

Manzarek never gave up his pursuit of Yrevmolik, or so Fedorova had thought. On the day before Manzarek ascended to Celestia, he appeared before his estranged daughter to tell her that she was right. That the rods were more important than he realized - they are tied to the souls of all the dragons. The rods must be brought to Godspire, he said, and the Staff of Xyn must be used to destroy itself and free the dragons from these artifacts. He told her that Xarnath had not truly died; that Manzarek had bargained to keep her egg safe if she would guard the Rod of the Shadow Dragon on the ethereal plane in the ghost city of Darlok.

Armed with this information, the adventurers traveled to the ethereal plane and came upon the city of Darlok. There they saw a city stuck in time, ghosts wandering the city aimlessly as though it hadn't been decimated in a flash of light. This included the massive ghost army that had gathered here 50n years past, when Fedorova was planning her rebellion against Arcanus. Here in the city they found Xarnath, who had been waiting for them for over a century. She saw with them her granddaughter, Sjaachmiirik. Manzarek had stayed true to his word, and now so would she - if the heroes could defeat her in combat, she would give them the rod.

Though it was a deadly encounter, the heroes prevailed and were able to secure the Rod of the Shadow Dragon. They could see from the ethereal plane what was happening in the land around them. Velma Shade's host had erected a massive spire; it was the Xeverus Iniksthyr, the Baron of Darlok's ghost explained. A massive magical amplifier, some legends called it "Sandman's Rectifier", and it is capable of amplifying spells to unfathomable strengths. It was with this very artifact that the city of Darlok was destroyed. Velma had brought it here to destroy the observatory. Instead, the heroes convinced Velma and her rebellious mages to allow them to use the rectifier to open a massive gate to allow the ghost army to cross into Arnessia and help fight the onslaught of the Bloodforged.

With the last dragon rod in their possession, and Velma guiding her mages and a host of ghost soldiers onward to Mirehold, the adventurers made their way to Godspire. They placed the three rods together, and once again the Staff of Xyn was whole. As soon as it had been forged, the wicked three's champions appeared to take the staff. Abaddon, cleric of Voxos, Bulrath the Butcher, Bromwen Shade, and Mammon, a pit fiend. This evil party did their best to wrestle the staff from the heroes, but failed.

In the end, it was Aliah Tharsae who was able to wield the staff. It was she who hatched the shadow dragon Sjaachmiirik in Celestia, who met Manzarek while she was there, who had hatched the radiant dragon Thraetisk, and it was her who won over Yrevmolik to their cause when he saw how Sjaachmiirik loved her. She had won the hearts of the three great grandchildren of Xyn, and she took the staff and in draconic, she said the words that destroyed the staff, and in doing so, she became something never seen before in the land: the orange dragon. Upon the destruction of the staff, the gods descended from Celestia into Godspire to officially acknowledge Manzarek as one of the Eternals.

While the realm was now safe from the machinations of Voxos and the utter destruction of Arnessia, the Bloodforged had taken Thryddmalk and had begun their siege on Mirehold. The queen's army, along with forces from Gron's Pass and the Hall of Ebrek had been keeping the Blood at bay, after every battle they gained more troops from the newly made vampire spawns, and Prigden, an actual god, stood above the army.

The party arrived at Mirehold to help with the battle, and for two nights they held the line with the forces there. On the third night, the army of ghosts finally arrived from the ashes of Darlok, allowing enough of an advantage that the four heroes were able to vanquish Prigden, and the armies destroyed the vampiric army.

So did the Wars of Ascension end. Rofik Dorrim earned a Sainthood from the Temple of Ursus, Kaenith was given the role of Grand Scion of Arcanus, Aliah was given the title of Daraxurirl ("Dragon Friend" in draconic) by all dragons across the realm, and J'aramé won the hand of Queen Ashra, becoming the king of Yondar.

Xarnath will bestow wondrous blessings upon those who give her proper tribute. She has a keen sense for knowing when a tribute is truly meaningful, so those who choose to bestow gifts upon her should do so wisely; the only thing greater than her blessings is her wrath. She is said sometimes to seek her dues from those who tell falsehoods.
Vorelisk and Prigdenia warred for centuries, prior to Vorelisk's destruction.
Vorelisk is said to have loved Yon, and it is believed by some that their children became the Dragonborn that exist today (though others believe that the Dragonborn were a creation of Xarnath). It is said by worshipers of Vorelisk that her love of Yon is what caused him to give up his crown, that the two went in exile together to spend eternity in each other's company.
When Gron came to Arnessia, he burned parts of the forest and the plains in defiance of his exile, as he never practiced the forbidden magic taught to the children. Claiming to be one of Gron's descendants, Grondar the terrible marched west through the Ebonwood, setting parts of the world afire in Gron's name. Estil's daughter Mila alone stayed in Ardis, and from her line come the high elves.

Estil is described as dramatic, compassionate, and a natural story teller. She is said to be the first playwright, as it combined the arts of story, dance, painting, sculpture, and music.

Emblems and holy symbols of Estil depict two theater masks, one smiling and one frowning.
Some dispute this, believing humanoid life came directly from the Children, however there are others who believe that life developed on its own in Arnessia before the children were exiled there. Stigg was believed to have been a great admirer of these early peoples, and took on their aspect. In light of this, Stigg is considered the "first" of the halflings.

Stigg is the god of medicine. In the massive halfling village known as Stigg's Farm, Stigg was said to be a master of the healing arts. Using the wisdom of his mother and the connection with nature from his father, he developed salves, draughts, and procedures to tend to his kin, and was quick to teach anyone willing to learn. Many acts still taught to healers and clerics of the realms come from Stigg's teachings.
Uller famously lost his arm in a duel with his half-brother Darlos, and ever since that moment he became more withdrawn and pensive. When exiled to Arnessia, he became obsessed with the mortal phenomenon of death. He was known to be caring and comforting to those reaching the end of their mortal coil. The gods took notice of his actions and were so moved by his actions that they offered to let him be the guide for mortal souls when they leave the material plane.

A common saying in Yondar is "taking the road to Uller", which means someone is dying. Uller's namesake city is where the arts of necromancy first surfaced amongst the mortals. It is believed that this gift was given to the mortals at the hands of Uller himself, as a way to slow his comings and goings, out of his compassion for the mortals.

Emblems and holy symbols of Uller depict a right hand beckoning forward.

New page

The son of Aurelia and Apotheos, surprisingly small in nature, Darlos is the god of laws. Described by some as tedious and a bureaucrat, others as an emancipator and erudite saint, Darlos is believed to be the first of the gnomes. Inspired by his father's tropes of "justice" and his mother's penchant for "mercy", he strove to find the balance between these two. He spent a thousand years in Godspire calling upon Ezra, Zanna, and his parents to try and create a doctrine that would account for fair treatment of all peoples across the planes. He was for the common folk, and thus the people of his city, Darlok, were described by some as "communists". Unfortunately, in 203 YSK, the city of Darlok was decimated by the High Council of Arcanus in a tragic overreaction to the accusations that the city was harboring the Scarlet Sorceress (Manzarek's daughter).

In 878 YSK, New Darlok was settled on the magically healed land, and was founded on the same principles of Darlok of old. As of the year 998 YSK, the commune has thrived into a city with abundant agriculture, magic, arts, and fair trade. Darlos smiles on this new city, and commanded his mortal comrades to build him a temple in the city center so that he may bestow blessings upon them.

Darlos was known to have feuds with Uller, his half brother, first of the giants, though he and his other half-siblings Yon, Estil, and Ebrek were the best of friends. Darlos helped established the law that Yon established as the first king (though, with some notable changes that Darlos did not approve of).

Emblems and holy symbols of Darlos depict a red seven-pointed star.

Darlos is Neutral Good.
