Established in 299 ASK by the first Grand Scion Manzarek, the Council of Arcanus are the leaders of the Arcanus Conservatory, the masters of the eight schools of arcane magic. The council is made up of the Grand Scion, the head of their order and traditionally an advisor (in varying capacity) to the crown, and the eight pillars:

- Immortal Pillar, the master of Necromancy. - Ascending Pillar, the master of Evocation. - Hermetic Pillar, the master of Abjuration. - Illusory Pillar, the master of Illusion. - Demiurgic Pillar, the master of Conjuration. - Dominant Pillar, the master of Enchantment. - Mercurial Pillar, the master of Transmutation. - Divine Pillar, the master of Divination. - Infused Pillar, the master of Artificers (established under Grand Scion Kaenith Silverharp in 272 YSK).
